(22 May 2025, Manila) - The Aurora Pacific Economic Zone and Freeport Authority (APECO), represented by Mr. Gene Angelo P. Ferrer, Business Development and Marketing Division (BDMD) Manager, recently attended the Solar and Storage Expo 2025—a premier event for the renewable energy sector where emerging smart technologies and innovations were put at the forefront with the objective of global transition to a greener energy system. With the assistance of Mr. Francis de Castro, FLC Holdings Inc. CEO, APECO was especially invited by Jenmour New Energy Co., Ltd., a Taiwanese clean energy firm which expressed keen interest in establishing clean energy facilities within the economic zone.

Represented by Mr. Zhai Shuxing, Chairman, and Mr. Simon K. Mok, Overseas Marketing & Development Director, Jenmour New Energy Co., Ltd. has expertise in constructing and developing wind and solar energy farms. The company shared its interest in investing in the Philippines, particularly in Aurora, where APECO offers expansive land, direct access to the Pacific Ocean, and strong potential for both solar and wind energy generation as identified in publicly available studies.

The meeting marked the beginning of a potential partnership aimed at accelerating green energy development in APECO. The two parties discussed the technical viability of establishing renewable energy infrastructure such as solar farms and wind turbines, along with the regulatory and investment incentives available within the APECO jurisdiction. Given the region’s natural resources and strategic location, it stands as an ideal candidate for clean energy projects that can serve both local demand and possibly the Philippine national grid as well.

Both sides agreed to schedule a follow-up meeting to explore the details of the proposed collaboration, including site assessments, permitting processes, and potential timelines. The planned developments are expected to support the government’s energy transition goals while attracting environmentally responsible investments to the region.

Mr. Ferrer emphasized APECO’s commitment to sustainable development and highlighted how partnerships like these can contribute to long-term economic growth and energy security. The exploratory discussions with Jenmour New Energy Co., Ltd. reaffirm APECO’s role as a forward-looking investment hub ready to embrace clean technologies and international collaborations aligned with the Philippine Energy Plan’s priority for renewable energy.

As the dialogue continues, stakeholders anticipate that this potential venture will help transform APECO into a model green economic zone, supporting the national goal of achieving a more sustainable and energy-resilient future.
