(29 July 2025, Parañaque City) – We, at the Aurora Pacific Economic Zone and Freeport Authority (APECO), strongly support President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s commitment to address challenges in accessibility, reliability, and affordability of power, and recognizes the vital role of clean energy in providing sustainable solutions to these issues.
His recognition of the urgent need to expand access to electricity, reduce energy costs, and secure reliable power supply, especially in underserved areas, is a call to action we fully embrace at APECO.
As President Marcos Jr. emphasized, over three million Filipino households still lack access to electricity, and many more suffer from high costs and unstable power. This is not uncommon to the province of Aurora, where many families, particularly in remote areas, do not have electricity. Such conditions have dampened investor interest in locating and opening businesses in the province, despite the presence of an economic zone.
At APECO, we are committed to making energy security through renewable energy (RE) one of our priority sectors.
APECO is actively advancing RE projects within our economic zone in Casiguran, an area with immense untapped potential for solar, wind, and hydro energy. Casiguran’s geographic location and natural resources position it as a key contributor to the nation’s clean energy goals of increasing the share RE to 35 percent by 2030 and to 50 percent by 2040.
We proudly highlight Pacific Impact’s upcoming investments for a 16.8-megawatt solar power project that will directly support energy access, reliability, and sustainable industrialization in the region. This project not only strengthens APECO’s energy infrastructure but also demonstrates our viability as an investment destination, especially as we position the ecozone as the Fishing Capital of the Pacific and the first national defense hub.
We believe that RE is not just a solution but a catalyst for inclusive growth. Power precedes progress.
APECO is ready to play a key role in realizing the President’s call for a modernized energy sector that serves the people and attracts global investors.
